The most basic step to being thrifty is to shop at thrift stores. I hardly went thrift shopping when I was younger because I didn't have anyone to really tell me about thrifting. I also didn't know that there are other thrift stores out there besides Goodwill and that store did not seem very appealing to me.
When I had my son I got tired of spending so much money on clothes and toys that he outgrew so quickly. I also did not want to spend so much money on new clothes for myself as I gained and then lost pregnancy weight. So when my sister introduced me to these new thrift stores that were popping up all over town, I fell in love. I was getting baby clothes for $3-4! I was getting outfits for myself for $8-10! Name brands, clothes with original tags still attached, baby toys still in original packaging!
And not only are the prices really low as it is and the quality of the items being above what I thought they would be, most thrift stores have sales! Some stores have "half off" days, certain items are on sale on particular days, and so on. It still boggles my mind to this day when people look down on thrift stores, thrifting is so much more than just buying old and used stuff these days.
Until next time,

Krystal, I can totally relate to that. I only knew about Goodwill until about a month ago when one of my friends took me to a really cool thrift shop. We spend quite some time in there and I was very surprised about the quality-price-relation. I fell in love with one of the purses, and zoom, my friend gave it to me for Christmas :)
